Sermon: "It Takes A Family" By Jason Freed 1-29-2012 (click to Listen)

Text: Mark 2:1-12 We sometimes get the idea we are responsible for bringing a person to Christ, it is our Job and we can do it alone and we  don’t need any ones help. Pride gets in the way from what might be the most effective way to bring someone to Christ. Let’s be tactful in our approach to reaching out for Christ Jesus said in Matt. 28:19 to Go Make disciples, students of the word learners of God people who desire to know more about his love and life. We have to do this in a very smart way Jesus said as wise as a serpent and harmless as doves Matt 10:13

Sermon "A Chip Off the Old Block" By Jason Freed 1-15-2012 ( Click to Listen)

Sometimes things in life happen that cause us to dislike even hate people. When people mistreat us or cause us pain there is something there that makes them respond is such an ungodly way. How do we as Christians respond in at when people miss treat us hurt us? Do we seek revenge or get even, could we simply walk away from something like this? To find answers for issues like this we need to look to the Bible for direction; look in our memory bank of Bible knowledge to best respond.
(Text: Matthew 5:38-48)

Sermon: "Learning To Sow" By Jason Freed 1-8-2012 (Click to Listen)

From Mark 4:3-8
When look the world around us we are ether pulled in or repelled, the trick to doing what God wants is to live in the world but not be conformed to the world Rom. 12:2. Jesus had the most effective ministry because of the way He saw people. When we look at people we need to try to use the eyes of Christ He was not judgmental He allowed everyone a chance to hear and except the message that God sent Him to teach. We need to take this to heart and remember God has commissioned or sent all Christians out in to a world and teach that His son died us. We are sent as the parable states to sow the seed not inspect the soil.

Sermon One More Night With The Frogs Jason Freed 1-1-2012

We are faced with choices every day and some times we chose to suffer like Pharaoh did. When Pharaoh was asked  by Moses when would he like God to take away the plague of the frogs he replied  tomorrow. God can take away the sin and the penalties of sin today. He is willing to do that for us today why do we respond like Pharaoh tomorrow. Don't put off for tomorrow what can be taken away today.

Sermon "God's Plan" By Danny Rowe, December 11, 2011 (Click To Listen)

God had a plan to save man from the beginning.
-God has done his part. John 3:16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
-Christ has done his part. I Corinthians 15:3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.
-Man must do his part by obeying the gospel.

Sermon "God Provides" By Eddie Watkins, December 4, 2011 (Click To Listen)

We are anxious about meeting our physical needs.  God knows that we have these needs and teaches us in the bible that material needs should not be the primary focus of our lives.  Matthew 6:24"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.25Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life ?28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Sermon "Making Difficult Decisions" By Jason Parks, November 27, 2011 (Click To Listen)

When we are faced with making decisions, sometimes outside influences may come to bear upon us to compromise.  These may include peer pressure and other temptations.  In Daniel chapter 3 the exiled children of Israel responded to temptation: Daniel 3:14 and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, "Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up? 15 Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes and all kinds of music, if you are ready to fall down and worship the image I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?" 16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up."

Sermon "Why Has God Blessed Us So Much" By Jason Freed, November 20, 2011 (Click To Listen)

Matthew 12:18 Behold, my servant whom I have chosen; My beloved in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my Spirit upon him, And he shall declare judgment to the Gentiles. 19 He shall not strive, nor cry aloud; Neither shall any one hear his voice in the streets. 20 A bruised reed shall he not break, And smoking flax shall he not quench, Till he send forth judgment unto victory. 21 And in his name shall the Gentiles hope.

Sermon "Jesus Heal The Deaf Mute Boy Mark 9:14-29 by Michael Reed November 6, 2011 (Click to Listen)

Coming down from the mount of transfiguration with His three disciples,  Jesus finds His other disciples embroiled in controversy - Mk 9:14.  Surrounded by a multitude, disputing with scribes.   The controversy apparently involved a failed attempt to heal a deaf-mute boy, Who from childhood had been prone to seizures, whose father desperately wanted him healed,Whom the disciples of Jesus had not been able to heal

The account of this miracle is one of most the detailed in the gospels. From it we can learn valuable lessons,  But we must also be careful not to misapply what is said.

Sermon "Disciples Ask Queston" Mark 9:10-13 by Michael Reed Octeber 30, 2011 (Click to Listen)

After being told not to reveal what occurred on the mount of transfiguration, Peter, James, and John had questions about what Jesus said... - Mk 9:10.   They weren't sure what rising from the dead meant. Though believing in the future resurrection, they were perplexed by announcements of Jesus' own death and resurrection - cf. Mk 9:31-32
They then asked a question about what scribes taught concerning Elijah...
 * Why Elijah must come first, that is, precede the Messiah  Mk 9:11
 * Jesus confirms the scribes were correct, Elijah must come first Mk 9:12;       Mal 4:5
 * But that Elijah had already come, in the person of John the Baptist                  Mk 9:13; 17:12-13

Note that in the first case, the disciples had a question but did not ask, thus remaining in ignorance (cf. Mk 9:31-32). In the second case, they had a question, asked and received their answer.
Important to discipleship is asking questions!

Sermon "Eyewitnesses of His Majesty" Mark 9:1-9 by Michael Reed October 16, 2011 (CLick to Listen)

In His discussion on discipleship, Jesus makes a remarkable claim... He will one day come in the glory of His father with the holy angels - Mk 8:38 . A reference to His coming in on the Day of Judgment - cf. Mt 16:27; 25:31-32.
To support His claim, Jesus makes another remarkable statement: "Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death till...".   "they see the kingdom of God present with power." - Mk 9:1, "They see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom." - Mt 16:28 "they see the kingdom of God." - Lk 9:27
To what does Jesus refer?  Several interpretations have been given...
* Jesus' transfiguration on the mount
* Jesus' resurrection and ascension
* The coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and beginning of the church
* The destruction of Jerusalem by Rome in 70 A.D.
The second coming of Christ

Note that the gospel writers connect these sayings with an event about to occur...
Matthew and Mark record "and after six days..." - Mk 17:1; Mk 9:2
Luke writes "about eight days" ("the Jewish equivalent of 'about a  week later'") - Lk 9:28
Luke adds "after these sayings", clearly tying the event to what had just been said.

That event was the transfiguration of Christ on the mountain, which served as a striking preview and guarantee of His future coming in glory (cf. 2Pe 1:16-18).

Sermon "Mindful of The Things of God" by Michael Reed Mark 8:31-33 August 28, 2011 (Click to Listen)

As Jesus travelled near Caesarea Philippi, He made the first of three predictions concerning what awaited Him in Jerusalem... He must suffer many things, He must be rejected and killed, And rise again in three days. Peter's response was adamant... He took Jesus aside and began to rebuke Him... - (Mk 8:32) Peter's words:  "Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to you!" (Mt 16:22) In turn, Jesus looks at His disciples and then rebukes Peter... "Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men." - (Mk 8:33)  Matthew reveals that Jesus also said:  "You are an offense to Me..." - (Mt 16:23) Peter's outburst of concern for Jesus was only natural. But Jesus' rebuke reveals an important lesson in being "Mindful Of The Things Of God."

Sermon "The Value of a Soul" Mark 8:36-37 by Michael Reed August 26,2011a.m (Click to Listen)

Mark 8:36-37
36 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? 37 Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? NIV

With these words of Jesus we are reminded of the value of the soul, it is the most valueable possession one has. All earthly possessions, position, pleasure, and power are not worth the value of one's soul.

Sermon 'They Did Not Even Know How To Blush" Jeremiah 6:13-16 By Gene Rowe of Westward Church of Christ August 18, 2011p.m (Click to Listen)

Jeremiah  6:13-16
"From the least to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; prophets and priests alike, all practice deceit.
14 They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. 'Peace, peace,' they say,
when there is no peace. 15 Are they ashamed of their loathsome conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when I punish them," says the Lord. 16 This is what the Lord says: "Stand at the crossroads and look;
ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.
But you said, 'We will not walk in it.' NIV

Mark 8:34-35
34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 35 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. NIV

Sermon "Who Do You Say That Jesus Is?" Mark 8:27-30 by Michael Reed September 4, 2011a.m (Click to Listen)

On the road from Bethsaida to Caesarea Philippi, Jesus asked His disciples two questions...
(1)  "Who do men say that I am? (Mk 8:27) or "Who do people say the Son of Man is?" (Matt 16:13)
(2) But who do you say that I am? (Mk 8:29)
The response to such questions concerning Jesus' identity have been many both in Jesus' day and today. It is the most important question people could ask themselves, for thier response determines thier destiny both in this life and in the life to come.

Sermon "The Blind Man At Bethsaida" Mark 8:22-26 By Michael Reed August 28, 2011a.m. (Click to Listen)

Jesus arrives in Bethsaida to find some friend's of a blind man begging Him to touch their friend so he could be healed. Jesus takes the man by the hand and leads him outside the village. Once outside the village Jesus heals him. This miracle seems to occurs in two stages, but why? Why outside the village? Well, spiritual growth also happens in stages, and most of the time God wants to remove us from the place that we are at in our life as well. We to are spiritually blinded by sin, in need of healing. We need the special attention of Jesus to be healed. When Jesus heals us of our spiritual blindness, it may take awhile to see clearly. By coming to Jesus through obedience to the gospel, by continuing to walk with Him we will see more clearly day by day.

Sermon "Beware of Leaven" Mark 8:14-21 by Michael Reed August 21,2011a.m service (Click to Listen)

Jesus is warning his disciples to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, Sadducees and the Herodians. They did not understand at first and thought he was talking about bread, but they finally understood that He was talking about the teachings (Doctrine) of the Pharisees, Sadducess and Herodians. Leaven or Yeast is often depicted as sin in the bible and no doubt becoming involved with the doctrines of these people would have been sinful.

Sermon "Let Me Glean" Ruth 2:1-12 By Michael Reed August 14, 2011p.m. (Click to Listen)

The Sermon "Let Me Glean" is about God's providence, how he provides for those who serve Him whole heartily. It is about humility and the willingness to minister to the needs of others. Sermon "The Savior's Sigh" Mark 8:11-13 by Michael Reed August 14,2011a.m (Click to Listen)

The Savior's Sigh is about the Lord's reaction to the behavior of those who test Him. Have you ever considered the Lord's reaction to your behavior? When you refuse to believe in Him? When you do not follow him as you should? Would Jesus sigh deeply at us today? When we refuse to obey his gospel? When our conduct is not much different than those of the world? When our love is no different that that displayed by sinners? When the kingdom of God is not our priority in life? When tribulation or persecution causes us to stumble? When anxiety or materialism makes us unfruitful? When discouragement leads us to abandon prayer? When human traditions displace keeping the commands of God? When denominationalism defeats His prayer for unity? When the Love of the world replaces love for His Father?
How will Jesus react to our response to Him? Will it be great joy or a deep sigh in His spirit?

Sermon "I Will Go" From The Book of Ruth 1:1-22 by Michael Reed July 31,2011p.m (Click to Listen)

"I Will Go" Sermon by Michael Reed from Ruth 1:1-22. Ruth made a choice to leave family and false religion, for the true God and His family one that would have provide both temporal and eternal blessings Mk 10:29-30. Sometimes the choice is not between right and wrong, but between good and better, yet any choice we make will be the right one if made with these words of Jesus in mind:"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." - Mt 6:33.

That ultimately the Gentiles would recieve the same blessings as the Jews. That all people would be blessed by God both Jew and Gentile.

Because what we see in Mark 7:31-37 Jesus Has done all things well! He astonised those who saw His miracles, He astonished those who heard His teacheing. Has He done all things well for you? and If not way not? Remember if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation...(2 Corinthians 5:17)

Sermon "A Gentile Blessed For Her Faith" Mark 7:24-30 July 3,2011a.m. by Michael Reed (Click to Listen)

Many Christains today take their faith and its privileges for granted, Perhaps its it old adage "Familiarity breeds contempt". But Gentile Christians in particular should never lose sight of the grace shown them. Such as a covenant relationship with God, with all the blessings that accompany such a relationship which are now available to all who come to God with faith in Christ.

Sermon "The Source of True Defilement" Mark 7:14-23 June 26,2011a.m. by Michael Reed (Click to Listen)

From what Jesus taught His desciples, true defilement comes not from food, but from the heart. Man has a heart problem. The heart (mind) is a fountain out of which much that impacts life flows. (Prov 4:23) Affected by sin, it becomes deceitful and wicked. Thus the heart is a source of much evil that defiles man. From Christ and His apostles, we learn that all foods have been decleared clean when recieved with thanksgiving and when sanctified by prayer. Thus we learn where our true focus should be, removing that defilement from sinful hearts.

Familiarity Breeds Contempt May 1, 2011 by Michael Reed (Click to hear)

The better we know people, the more likely we are to find fualt with them. If you know someone very well or experience something a lot, you stop respecting them. The more you know something or someone, the more you start to find faults and dislikes about it or them. Could contempt bred by familiarity explain our dull spiritual lives? Listen to this sermon and see what you think.
